Grant Writing Workshop for Local Businesses

Mancos Public Library is kicking off its adult summer reading program on Friday, July 12th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a potluck and book discussion. The League of Women Voters of Montezuma County is conducting a discussion to explain a proposed country sales tax and how it will be used. On Tuesday, July 16th, Ashley Smith of the nonprofit consulting agency Sage Advice and Marcie Bidwell of Land Trust Alliance are holding a workshop on grant writing for rural communities. Discussions on Summer reads, sales tax and grant writing are happening at the Mancuss Public Library this month. The Cortez Cultural Center's July exhibit features the colorful work of Brad Goodell titled "The Art of Illustration." You're watching the local News Roundup, brought to you by TruWest Auto and Hospice of Montezuma, I'm Connor Shrieve. Mancuss Public Library is kicking off its adult summer reading program on Friday, July 12th from five to seven with a potluck and book discussion. Later in the month on Saturday the 20th, teacher author and Sudanese refugee Nyibol Bior will be speaking adult summer reading in Saturday, August 31st with an ice cream social. The League of Women Voters of Montezuma County is conducting a discussion to explain a proposed county sales tax and how it will be used. The events is in partnership with the KSJD radio station and presented by the Mancuss and Cortez libraries. Discussions will take place on Saturday the 13th, Wednesday the 24th, and Saturday August 10th at various locations. On Tuesday, July 16th, Ashley Smith of the nonprofit Consulting Agency, Sage Advice and Marcy Bidwell of Land Trust Alliance, are holding a workshop on grant writing for rural communities. The workshop covers the basics of grant writing, including developing a grant application strategy, tools and techniques for getting started managing awards with a small team and budget, and thinking creatively about grants and collaborations. That workshop will take place at the Mancuss Public Library at 10:30 AM. The Cortez Cultural Center will be displaying illustrations by Brad Goodell throughout the month of July. Goodell has worked as an illustrator with a specialty in book and magazine covers and has five murals in the Four Corners region.
