Supporting domestic abuse survivors with a film fest. Get ready for summer adventures by updating your first aid kit and gardening season is almost here. Learn to prune with the Montezuma Orchard Restoration Project. You're watching the local news roundup, brought to you by TruWest Auto and Southwest Health System. I'm Connor Shreve. The second annual Luna Fest featuring films about and made by women is scheduled for Saturday April 15th. at Destination Grill. Films are intended to inspire viewers to be an agent of change for their communities and organizers say the films do have something for everyone. The evening will benefit a nonprofit that works to empower survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. Renew's mission is to provide assistance to survivors of intimate partner violence, adult sexual assault and adult survivors of child sexual abuse through crisis intervention, public education and awareness. All proceeds will benefit Renew and its crisis shelter. There will be door prizes, appetizers, a silent auction and a cash bar at Cortez Conference Center located at Destination Grill. The show is recommended for ages 13 and over and will last 80 minutes. Doors open at 5:30 and the show starts at 6:30. Tickets start at $20. The Dolores Public Library will host a class on how to build outdoor first aid kits, Thursday, March 30th at 5:30 PM. The class will be taught by doctors Jay and Amanda Mullen, and include lessons on how to use a tourniquet, EpiPen, splint and more. Participants are encouraged to bring their own first aid kit for discussion and feedback. The Montezuma Orchard Restoration Project will host a hands-on pruning workshop at the Animus Valley Grange in Durango on Saturday, April 1st from 10:00 AM to noon. Participants should dress for the weather and be prepared to work outdoors. More information and registration for the workshop are available online at montezumaorchard.org.
