Two fundraisers are happening in Montezuma County this month. The Mancos Cowboy Half Marathon benefiting the Mancos Public Library and the Pretty in Pink Fashion Show benefiting the Cancer Resource Alliance. The Dolores Public Library is hosting a yarn swap on October 12th and at the Cortez Public Library The Art of James M. Williams is on display through October 15th. You're watching the "Local News Roundup" brought to you by Keesee Motor Company and Blondie's Trophy Room. I'm Connor Shreve. The Mancos Cowboy Half Marathon, 5K and Fun Run is Saturday, October 19th. The event also includes local food, live music, and a silent auction. The Mancos Public Library coordinates this event annually, along with Rocky Mountain Timing as a fundraiser for the library. Signups and start times are available on the run website. The Cancer Resource Alliance is hosting its 13th annual Pretty in Pink Fashion Show on Thursday, October 17th at the Four Season's Greenhouse and Nursery. The evening will be filled with fashion, trends, tips, and tutorials along with dinner and a silent auction. Described as a girls' night out for a cause, the event is designed to raise awareness and funds for the Cancer Resource Alliance, which will be used as a financial aid for residents in Montezuma and Dolores Counties for cancer-related expenses. Last year's fashion show generated over $30,000 helping 40 Montezuma and Dolores residents in 2024 to date. Tickets are available online on the Cancer Resource Alliance website. The Dolores Public Library is holding a yarn swap on Saturday October 12th. Participants can bring up to 10 skeins of yarn to the library through Friday, October 11th in exchange for tickets that'll be used during the swap on Saturday. Each ticket is valid for one new-to-you yarn skein. This is your last opportunity to see The Art of James M. Williams at the Cortez Public Library. The exhibit is a collection of art and historical works with some dating back 85 million years. It'll be on display through Tuesday, October 15th.
