Printing Pop-Up Returns

A local printing pop-up will showcase a variety of prints to raise money for the Mancos Common Press Scholarship Fund. Learn all about the variety and healing properties of mushrooms at an educational session at the Dolores Public Library, and Colorado Parks and Wildlife wants you to help with its license draw process. Back for its second year, the printer's pop-up in Mancos, will support the Mancos Common Press Scholarship Fund. The pop-up welcomes all hand printed media for its show, that includes letterpress, linoleum and woodblock, intaglio, silkscreen, monotype, potato prints, and more just as long as it's not digitally printed. The event runs Saturday, August 19th from noon until five at the Mancos Common Press, at 135 Grand. Prints will be available for sale, and proceeds benefit the artist, and Mancos Common Press Scholarship Fund. Whether you are new to mushrooms or trying to learn more, the Dolores Public Library is hosting a public session on the health benefits of Fungi, hosted by registered nurse, Erica Messinger. Messinger will touch on the healing benefits of mushrooms, and talk about the most recent research on mushrooms, in the context of functional, medicinal, and adaptogenic fungi. Messinger has a professional history dealing with medical issues, and has a personal love affair with mushrooms. She serves on the Dolores High School Agricultural Committee. She's also a Colorado Master Gardener, and is completing the certification process to become a Colorado wild mushroom identification expert. The session will take place on Thursday, August 24th at the Dolores Public Library at 6:00 PM. Colorado Parks and Wildlife is looking for people to join a group to review its draw rules and a process for hunting licenses. Representatives will ideally include hunters with varying backgrounds and preferences. The working group will include eight members of the public, five CPW staff members, two CPWW administrators, and three Parks and Wildlife Commission members. The working group will be tasked with simplifying the agency's current hunting draw rules, to fix some of the current preference point issues. The group will also focus on addressing the biological and sociological concerns related to Colorado's limited license draws. Applications must be submitted by the end of the day on Monday, August 28th. You can find the application on the Engage CPW applications page. CPW wants the group to be as diverse as possible, representing a variety of ages, ethnicities, socioeconomic backgrounds, and genders.
