The City of Cortez is conducting a city cleanup week May 20th through the 24th for curbside pick-up items. The Mancos Public Library is hosting two events on Friday, May 24th: the teen summer program kickoff and a panel discussion on permaculture and backyard gardening. The Colorado Department of Transportation began a lane striping project on May 13th that will span several highways throughout southwestern and south-central Colorado, including Dolores and Cortez. Be aware of extra traffic as the Colorado Department of Transportation will be restriping lanes on Southwest Highways this spring and summer. Featured speakers include three professors from Fort Lewis College with specialties in media literacy, ethics of AI, and political science. The event is free to the public and will also be recorded and live streamed. The City of Cortez is conducting a city cleanup week, May 20th through the 24th, for curb-side pick-up items. Loose items must be bagged or boxed and placed in your usual pickup area. A list of permitted and prohibited items can be found on the City of Cortez website. Elderly and disabled residents who need help getting items to the curb can contact the City Service Center. A second cleanup week is scheduled for October. The Mancos Public Library is hosting two events on Friday, May 24th. The Library's Teen Summer Program is kicking off at 5:00 PM with Japanese-inspired games and food. At 6:30, there will be a panel discussion on permaculture and backyard gardening.
