Rhythm and Roots Harvest Festival This Weekend

The second annual Rhythm and Roots Harvest Festival is happening at the Mancos Opera House on Friday, Sept. 20 and Saturday, Sept. 21. Cortez Middle School Garden is hosting an open house on Saturday, Sept. 21 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. to share about the Montezuma School to Farm Project. Mancos Public Library is participating in National Library Card Sign-Up Month this September with a raffle for new card holders. A newly-published report from the National Park Service shows that Mesa Verde National Park contributed more than 75 million dollars to the local economy. By Rachel Hughes. Tickets are on sale for the Rhythm and Roots Harvest Festival happening this weekend. Cortez Middle School Garden is holding an open house. September is National Library Card Sign-Up Month. Find out how Mancos Public Library is participating. A new report shows Mesa Verde National Park's economic contribution. The second annual Rhythm and Roots Harvest Festival is happening at the Mancos Opera House on Friday, September 20th and Saturday, September 21st. The festival will feature all artists of color and celebrate music, art, community, and culture. The event is put on by the Cookout and open to all ages with tickets available for purchase on Eventbrite. Cortez Middle School Garden is hosting an open house on Saturday, September 21st from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Guests can enjoy a locally made green chili while learning about the Montezuma School to Farm Project. Mancos Public Library is participating in National Library Card Sign-Up Month this September. Those who sign up for a new library card at Mancos Public Library in the month of September will be entered into a raffle. Two winners will be drawn at the end of the month with one prize for adults and one for children. According to the American Library Association, Library Card Sign-Up Month was launched in 1987 to mark the beginning of the school year and encourage every student to get their own library card. A newly published report from the National Park Service shows that Mesa Verde National Park contributed more than $75 million to the local economy. The report detailing 2023 visitors spending and economic effects at national parks shows that visitors to Mesa Verde National Park spent nearly $60 million in communities near the parks, which supported 776 jobs. The report also shows a steady increase in cumulative spending at National Parks from around $14 billion in 2012 to around 26 billion in 2023. With the report, the National Parks Service also created an interactive tool so users can see the various types of economic impact from national parks over the years.
