From Braise to brushes, the 2025 Manchus Borough Fest was a banger. You're watching the Local News Network brought to you by Choice Building Supply and Kazem Motor Company. I'm Connor Shrieve. An estimated 1800 people gathered in Manchus to celebrate the borough. Its connection to Southwest Colorado and its inspiration to local artists.
It's a goofy, lovable animal. They just are both lovable and stubborn at the same time, which I think brings their curiosity out and just, there's just a love for them. They love, they can get dressed up. There's actually a great history for them. Also in the Colorado area with mining
Burrows came from as far as Idaho Sporting names like Freya LaBrea to Simply Donkey. The festival started with a simple idea from founder and local artist Vel Goodnight, pairing an animal with an artist.
So we have about 12 animal artists. They come out and they still are paired with burrows. They get to meet the burrows beforehand. They get to get inspired by the burrows and come up with their own art, and then they sell it here on at the park.
Artists try to capture the personality of burrows like little D. Who are the biggest crowd reaction to win most creative costume? Alice Wonderlands, Cheshire Cat.
He is been working up for this event, so he's very ecstatic to be named the costume competition winner. So he's now even more excited for next year and coming back.
Durango's. Elizabeth Marsh says Little D is sweet and cheeky and likes the attention from his festival admirers. The event that draws the biggest crowd is the obstacle course
Where the burrows kind of have a funny, wonky burrow, wonky donkey kind of thing. They go through different obstacles that they have to like jump over things, wind around, things go under things, and they're all themed. So they're all made from the artists as well.
Burrows earn points for completing the challenges, though little D didn't win, Mar says he'll be back to try again next year.
It's very challenging because donkeys are perfect at home and will do every single obstacle you throw at them. But then you take them to a new place with a crowd in distractions, and that's when they show their stubbornness and their reluctance. So we're very thankful that he was able to follow a friend through, so we had a good experience. But that's donkeys. They're sweet, they're cute, they're feisty, they're stubborn, but they're very special.
Burrow Fest. And the MCUs Creative District also encourage Burrow adoption with 11 animals adopted last year. Thanks to Burrow Fest. For more information about this and other stories, visit Montezuma local news. Thanks for watching this edition of The Local News Network. I'm Connor Shreve.
