A local nursing program is on the rise. The Dolores Farmer's Market is open, and the Ute Mountain Roundup PRCA Rodeo is back. You're watching the Local News Roundup brought to you by FASTSIGNS and Keesee Motors. I'm Connor Shreve. The nursing program at Pueblo Community College is getting a boost, receiving accreditation from the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education for its baccalaureate degree program in nursing. The BSN program was already endorsed by PCC's Accrediting Body, the Higher Learning Commission. Pueblo Community College pursued the additional accreditation to ensure the highest standards for students and the communities served by program graduates. The Dolores Farmer's Market is open for business, starting this week the farmer's market is up and running every Wednesday through the end of October from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Fresh fruit, veggies, local ranchers, baked goods, plants, artisans and vendors are all on site through October. This is a much more community-oriented market, and fees are not required, nor is a space. If you do want to sell, you'll need to be set up at Flanders Park by 4:00 PM on Wednesdays. The market will run, rain or shine through October. It's time for the Ute Mountain Roundup Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association Rodeo in Cortez. Three days of action from June 8th through June 10th are packed with events from mutton bustin', to bull riding and roping, as well as a nightly after party featuring live music and more. The Mesa Verde Project

While Mesa Verde National Park is celebrated for its historic cliff dwellings and archaeological sites, many may be surprised to learn about the presence of wild horses roaming the park. The National Mustang Association of Colorado (NMACO) has undertaken the Mesa Verde Project to relocate these horses, aiming to preserve the park's cultural heritage. This effort is driven by the park's role, which excludes horse management responsibilities under the Wild Free-Roaming Horses and Burros Act of 1971, placing such duties with the Bureau of Land Management and U.S. Forest Service. Upcoming Equine Film Fest Celebrates Local Mustangs

National touring film & arts fest Equus will visit the four corners for the first time on July 26 - 28 in Aztec, New Mexico. In addition to film & arts, the event will include panel discussions, visiting clinicians and a mustang summit to discuss management of the Jicarilla Mustangs. Local artists, filmmakers, policy managers and veterinarians will be on hand for Q&A sessions and panel discussions. Grant Writing Workshop for Local Businesses

Mancos Public Library is kicking off its adult summer reading program on Friday, July 12th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a potluck and book discussion. The League of Women Voters of Montezuma County is conducting a discussion to explain a proposed country sales tax and how it will be used. On Tuesday, July 16th, Ashley Smith of the nonprofit consulting agency Sage Advice and Marcie Bidwell of Land Trust Alliance are holding a workshop on grant writing for rural communities. El Pomar Foundation approved grants for 10 organizations in Southwest Colorado.
