Starting January 1st, most retail stores across the state will start charging a ten-cent bag fee for disposable bags. That's the result of a Colorado House bill intended to reduce reliance on disposable bags. Customers who show they're on federal or state food assistance programs will not have to pay the fee. And beginning in 2024, any affected store in Montezuma County will give 60% of those bag revenues to the county and be allowed to keep 40%. Removal of plastic and polystyrene containers will begin in 2024. Wishing you a safe and happy holiday season from the Local News Network. Thanks for watching this edition of the Local News Roundup.
